Cobras at the Castle
COBRAS AT THE CASTLE
‘Cobra’ sportscars are delighted to be celebrating ‘Fifty Years’ at The Cholmondeley Pageant Of Power in 2012.
On The Track
The finest collection of authentic cars will be fiercely competing in their own class for the fastest time of the weekend.
The talented drivers who raced these fearsome sportscars in their heyday were some of the best of their era – Richard Attwood, Bob Bondurant, the late Ken Miles, Jack Sears, and Sir John Whitmore, to name but a few.
Watch out this weekend for Justin Law (a past winner at the Goodwood Hillclimb), not in the fastest Cobra, but his amazing car control could threaten the other racers and he knows the track well!
In The Paddock – Display
Original AC/Shelby Cobras will be gathering to celebrate the 50th Anniversary. Created in 1962 by a successful Texan racing car driver, Carroll Shelby and predominantly manufactured by AC Cars Limited, a small specialist English sportscar manufacturer – the AC/Shelby Cobra became one of the most iconic sportscars from the 1960s.
Parade
The chance to both see and hear some of the most powerful AC Cobra sportscars in action. The rumble of the Ford V8s should be “music” to the ears of most petrol heads!
The fabulous power of the Ford V8 engine, mostly in 4.7 litre form but ultimately in 7-litre guise ensured that success on the racetracks was inevitable (even against Ferrari) and culminated in the 1965 World Sportscar Championship.
These days all period Cobras are highly sought after and with slightly less than 1,000originally produced in the 1960s, production was restarted in the 1980s both in the UK and USA due to customer demand. Consequently the original Cobra has become the most replicated car on the planet with literally thousands of‘kit cars’ created by enthusiasts’worldwide.
All owners wishing to attend are cordially invited to register their interest with AC Cobra contact - Richard Wright Tel : 01270 – 780034
