1909 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost - Chassis 1119
This was the first Rolls Royce motor car owned by the family - Sir Edward Sassoon MP. Later transferred to the Countess Rocksavage, later registered to the Marchioness of Cholmondeley (actually the same person [1]) living in Norfolk in 1920.
Loaned/presented to the South Kensington Science Museum in 1949. It is still there but may be in storage. It is thought that the Science Museum painted the car yellow (ugghh!).
[1] Sybil Rachel Betty Cecile, nee Sassoon, wife of George Horatio Charles 5th Earl of Rocksavage and 5th Marquis of Cholmondeley.

Not much is know about this car!
1919 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost - Chassis 12LW
In 1960 Joe Fildes rescued the car from Nuttall's scrap-yard, where it had lain probably since WWII (in 1938 it had been owned by Col A.W. Chadbum of Castleton and later by a Mr J.W. Young. In the scrap-yard Joe found a wreck - sandwiched between two other vehicles and upside down. It had to be taken to pieces to get it out of the yard. He paid £16 for it! About 8 years later he fitted a 1908 Franklin two-door body, but this had to be heavily 'modified'. Joe Fildes sold it in the late 70s to the Australian Rolls Royce collector John Altman. He eventually sold it on to the Lutgert Museum in the USA.
In 1998 the car was purchased and repatriated by UK 'Ghost' expert Terry Cohn. It was sold on to A. Archer in Yorkshire in 2001. Work done since then includes a complete repaint and all new buttoned leather upholstery, new mohair hood and tonneaux, together with extensive refurbishment of the nickel plating. It has the original Elliot Bros. speedometer and CAV lamps and carries dual side-mounted spare.
It now belongs to Tony Sobey (Surrey) who is about to sell the car on.

Lord Rocksavage traded in 12LW to buy this car, even though 12LW was only 3 years old and had recently been fitted with a second body (the Offord). Not much else is known!
