The name Lotus is still being used today on exciting and innovative cars. The success of Lotus cars on the track is well known, with six World Championships and seven Constructor Titles to their name.
Muscle cars of the late 1960s and '70s represent a golden era for the American automobile. Think oversized engines, racing stripes, you know - the General Lee kind of thing on the ‘Dukes Of Hazzard.’
These cars were symbols of American style, power and masculinity, but some could also be unreliable, hard-to-handle gas guzzlers.
Fuelled by starring roles in iconic films such as Bullitt, Vanishing Point and Transformers, much of the cars’ early status was earned on the racetracks, where success in circuits across the world gained a huge following for Mustangs, Camaros and the like.
Though they had to compete with scantily clad models, rock stars and sports figures, the supercars and other exotics of the Eighties held pride of place on many a childhood bedroom wall.
Foremost amongst these were icons such as the Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari Testarossa – well beyond the pocket money of the average child, but now attainable for those who have gone on to achieve sufficient financial clout to live out their youthful dreams.
This sector of the classic car market has become extremely vibrant and as a result such cars have also become extremely successful investments for their owners.
