The Cholmondeley Power and Speed event takes place in the beautiful grounds of Cholmondeley Castle, where the Cholmondeley family have resided since Norman times.
Cheshire Classic Cars will be hosting the 2016 Concours event at Cholmondeley Power and Speed. The theme of the event is Supercars, ‘Past, Present and Future.’
Amazing performance, unique styling and a large price tag are just a few of the things that define the supercar. There are spectacular cars which capture the imagination from such as the 1960’s Lamborghini Miura to the present day Lafarrari. It’s not uncommon for a supercar to be able to top 200mph and accelerate from 0-62mph in less than 3 seconds. They are powerful and stunning to look at. We are looking for exceptional original or restored cars.
We have 3 judges lined up, namely-
Stuart Graham
British former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and Saloon car racing specialist. He is the son of the 1949 500cc world champion, Leslie Graham. Graham started racing in 1961 on a 125 cc Honda Benly Sports, followed by spells with Bill Webster and on Syd Lawton's Aermacchis. He also rode Bultacos, later selling his half-share in a garage to fund his full-time racing using a 350 cc AJS 7R and a 500 cc Matchless G50 for the 'classic' races. His big break came when he was signed for the Honda factory team in July 1966, and later rode for Suzuki.His best season was in 1967 when he won two Grand Prix races and finished the year in third place in both the 50cc and the 125cc world championships. In the early 1970s he began car racing in Saloon classes, retiring in 1980 to concentrate on his business interests including a Honda dealership. Again reviving his racing in 1986, Graham has continued to appear in occasional historic car events. He will be racing at Cholmondeley this year.
Jeremy Wade
Jeremy Wade is known for his expertise in classic Jaguars. The XK was the first car in which he experienced the thrill of travelling at 100mph, belting along the new M1, and the first car he "drove", sitting on his father's lap and struggling to turn the big steering wheel. Jeremy deals in classics, specializing in XK Jags, naturally. Over 30 years he's had about 300, including no less than 22 RHD XK140 dropheads.
Andy Kershaw
In July 1985, Kershaw began life as a BBC Radio 1 DJ, ear-marked by the station as a possible successor to John Peel Room 318 of Egton House was to house Kershaw, Peel and their mentor, producer John Walters, whose Reithian motto was, "We're not here to give the public what it wants. We're here to give the public what it didn't know it wanted."Kershaw's weekly Radio 1 shows were characterised by their high levels of enthusiasm and musical eclecticism. This first year of broadcasting won Kershaw his first gold Sony Award in 1987. Kershaw was the first to play Ali Farka Touré on mainstream national radio, and the documentary they made together in Mali was the first ever to be broadcast simultaneously on Radios 1 and 4.
