We were delighted that Aled Jones hosted and performed at the Cholmondeley Fireworks Concert.  Aled is known as a proud Welshman, a successful singer, actor, author, radio & TV presenter/broadcaster and part-time dancer, with a career spanning over 25 years.

Mezzo Soprano Laura Wright also performed during the evening.  With over a million album sales under her belt, Laura is one of the biggest selling classical artists this decade. Laura has toured with tenors Alfie Boe and Russell Watson. She became the first mezzo soprano to perform at the Olympic Stadium and opened the iTunes Festival for Andrea Bocelli.

The Welsh Vocal Ensemble 'Only Men Aloud' also performed.  Only Men Aloud were formed in 2000. The group's aim was to inject some new blood into the Welsh male choir tradition. The group's repertoire is varied and eclectic, from Welsh folksongs and hymns to musicals and opera, from barbershop and swing to pop.  The choir won The BBC's Last Choir Standing in the summer of 2008, and released their debut album shortly afterwards, which went gold in the UK.

New singing group Celeste sang, all former cathedral choristers, the girls are steeped in the wonderful English Choral Tradition.

And playing throughout the evening was the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tim Redmond.  The National Symphony Orchestra dates back to the 1940's and is today one of the most successful and exciting free-lance orchestras in the UK.

This year there was an Italian and Best of British theme, together with the traditional, flag waving, knee ducking Last night of the Proms style finale.

The Concert was enjoyed from the lawns beneath the Castle.

The unforgettable pyrotechnic display was the glorious culmination of a wonderful event.
